Lumberyard Brewing Company

As a college town, you can only imagine that are more than enough bars or breweries to pick from in Flagstaff, AZ. One of the best is the Lumberyard Brewing Company on South San Francisco Street. The former lumberyard building was one of the last standing buildings from Flagstaff’s lumber era. The building, now restored to the current award winning brewery and delicious restaurant, features a taproom, eatery, and patio with a fire pit. The atmosphere is both welcoming and engaging.
The Lumberyard Bar offers “dry” wings with 13 different types of sauces to choose from for your dipping or tossing preference. The Mac and Cheese is one of the crowd favorites but you still must not miss out on their mouth-watering soups, chili, fries, sandwiches, burgers, dogs, and burritos. On the healthier side, they do offer six hearty salads to choose from. For those with a sweet tooth, be sure to try their decadent Banana Pudding, sea salt Brownie Sundae, Vanilla Ice Cream with chocolate syrup and stout caramel sauce, or their Jolly Rancher popsicle. The average price per meal is about $10.
Of course, in addition to their undeniably amazing food, you will not be disappointed with your choices when it comes to the beer here at the Lumberyard Brewing Company. They serve 10 to 12 types of ales/lagers at a time, some being the Lumberyard Red Ale, the Flagstaff I.P.A., the Knotty Pine Pale Ale, the Diamond Down Lager, the Lumberyard Hefeweizen, and the Red Rock Raspberry. From time to time, the talented brewers will follow their imaginations and create truly inspired specialty brews that you can inquire about with your server.

A variety of specials and events are also offered almost every night here at the Lumberyard bar including country night, trivia night, hospitality night, boys’ night out, stein and dine night, and much more! At the “Yard” they say that “it’s not just about the attitude, it’s about the altitude.” Come see for yourself and experience the fun on Sundays through Tuesdays from 11AM-11PM, and on Wednesdays through Saturdays 11AM-2AM. Call the Lumberyard directly at 928-779-BREW or visit lumberyardbrewingcompany.com for more information.

New Year’s Eve Pine Cone Drop Flagstaff

For twelve years in downtown Flagstaff, AZ, the Weatherford Hotel has been hosting the exciting and entertaining welcoming of the New Year by dropping a 6 foot tall, 70 pound, aluminum lighted LED pine cone, much like the New York’s Waterford Crystal, Times Square ball drop. Weatherford Hotel owners say that this memorable moment started out as 100 year birthday party for the historic hotel and has now become a much anticipated tradition for thousands of Flagstaff residents and visitors.
Perhaps one of the most interesting things aboutthis event is the way that is the way that it began.  With nothing more than a decorated trash can, it has been said that it is one of the oddest national traditions for New Year’s Eve celebrations. Hanging from the roof of the Weatherford Hotel, the now glamorous pine cone is a beautiful crowd pleasing holiday centerpiece for the city of Flagstaff.  Along with lighting the pine cone, LED technology has also been implemented on the hotel's "witch's cap,” in the Exchange Pub, and in Charly's Pub and Grill inside the hotel. Each individual light is programmable so that from year to year, there isa new light show experience for Arizona families. Our goal working with Sam and Henry at the Weatherford Hotel is to bring a classy, dynamic light experience to northern Arizona while respecting the beautiful dark sky nights," said AVDomotics Chief Executive Officer Andy White.
In addition, special New Year’s Eve menus are offered inside the hotel restaurant and musicians serenade visitors live with their holiday tunes. With lovely holiday music and cheer, the New Year is celebrated twice here at the Weatherford Hotel, once at 10pm to coincide with the New York ball drop, and the second time at midnight for the Flagstaff, AZ Pine Cone Drop. Also, fireworks are launched at midnight from the Babbit building down the street.  All city streets surrounding the downtown square are closed from 8pm to 2am, making this event a night not to be forgotten. If you missed out on this year’s Pine Cone drop in Flagstaff, AZ, be sure to remember this event for 2015.  Make this your New Year’s Eve extravaganza, and experience this much anticipated event for yourself!
